Second Life Bloggerparty December 16th

Last Sunday, the blogger party for December was held at the Royal Caledon Air Force, while Zoe Connolly and Lady Whoop-Ass/Flight LT Diamanda "Cuckoo" Gustafson were our host.

While more than 55.000 residents were online, the second life bloggers were trying to reach the party, and once arrived at the spot, stay there without crashing.

As Zippora already stated yesterday in one of my posts, it was not easy, to dance, to chat, and most of all to stay online without crashing. It does not need much explanation why I do not have more snapshots this time. Every time I had a nice view, and pushed the button, my view changed, and I could start all over again, struggling against the lag.

It is good to know that Second Life’s popularity is growing, but it is certainly not more fun. On the contrary, as I wrote in a previous post.

The set up for this party was beautiful, with the planes in the background, dancing on the ice, music from the 40’s. Everything was there to make it a great last bloggerparty of 2007. Only, the Linden servers wouldn’t cooperate.;)

Nevertheless, we are grateful to Zoe, for having us there at Caledon, and making it a hell of a party.

Best wishes to all of you colleague bloggers, and see you at the next blogger party in 2008.(February?)

Second Life Blogger Party November 10th

Last Saturday, the monthly blogger party was held again. I was not able to capture a lot of pictures, due to the, ever present, lag. This time the gathering was hosted by Nikk Huet, at the new Tribute Island Sim.
Usely these parties are on Sunday, that is why perhaps not everyone could attend this event, so a lots of bloggers were not there, or should have arrived after I already left.;)
Thanks to Nikk Huet for hosting this time.
Other pictures to be seen at my flickr site.

Blogger Party October 21st

Last Sunday, the monthly blogger party wad held at Codie's place. Code herself and Vint Falken were hosts. This month's theme was "Robots".
As soon as I arrived at Code's Lounge, on the top of the roof, one could already see what this month's theme was. Some of the colleague bloggers had really made some efforts for this occasion, as you can see in the snapshots, taken that evening. The party started with a little bad luck. On the very same SIM, there was another party going on, meaning that the SIM was full, at a certain moment. Luckily, it was a European party, on Sunday, so it did not last very long.
Some of us may have had some difficulties getting at the party, but eventually, I think everyone who intended to come was there.
Due to the extra long party hour, we only saw mot of the European Bloggers, and not all of the Americans, only the"die hards", because they would come a bit later, when the Europeans were already gone to bed.
Thanks Codie and Vint for this wonderful party.
You can see all the pictures of this blogger gathering in my flickr stream here.
Don't forget to surf to all other blogposts of this party, as there are Raul and Alysha

Blogger party 09-23

Last Sunday, there was another monthly Second Life blogger party. Unfortunately I could not be present from the start, but was just in time to take some snapshots. I probably missed the best part, but will try to be present from the beginning at the next party.

Thank you Myg and Alex who hosted the blogger gathering this time.

I post some pictures in this blog, but the rest is to be seen at my flickr stream.

Blogger gathering August 18th

Yesterday, in fact last night, there was again a Second Life Blogger Party. This time the hosts were Jellybean and Hawksrock.
As you can imagine, there was a lot of people, so we all had some trouble of lagginess. This was even more difficult for the photographers among us, because it is very difficult to move your camera, when the place is so crowded. I even crashed without noticing . I only heard the voice of Vint. The chat was gone, I couldn't make a move, no IM....I was crashing. What I could do, surprisingly, was tell Vint that I was going to reboot the system. That worked!!?
I logged back in, and took some pictures before wishing everyone goodnight, as for the Europeans it was already late, or should I say early.....and the next morning was supposed to be a working day.
It was only this evening that I could see, if had taken some shots or not. And, as you can see, I don't think I have missed one. Only some of them are too bad to show, because the persons were not rezzed enough.
You can also see the machinima of the party on Tiana's blog.
The rest of pictures are to be seen on my flickr stream.

Read All About It : The SL Bloggers crashed the sim !!

Last night, the Second Life Bloggers had a fourth gathering,or better said party. Theme yesterday was "Pirates". So, everyone was dressed as a pirate (or captain, or mistress), and the whole night there was "drunken" sailor (pirates) music.
Since the start of this group, a lot of bloggers have joined this group. And of course everyone would like to be present at this blogger party, which was for a lot of them the first time.
Once arrived at Dinee Ghia's place, you could see that the group has grown, for me that is. There were a lot of unknown people (bloggers), but that is why such events take place, to get to know each other.
And on the other hand, to see a fellow blogger, which blog you already comment, but never could really put a face on him/her.
After one hour it was already difficult to move, to take pictures, and suddenly, it happened, the sim crashed. YEAH!!! WE DID IT!! The Second Life Bloggers did crash the Linden Sim. Big news.
Once we all got back, we tried it for a second time, but I guess, a lot of fellow bloggers were not interested anymore, to make the Linden's work again.;))
And as there were less bloggers at the party, the party began to have the same old traditions. The ladies were having it too hot, and feel the urge to ress a pole for dancing, with , of course, less clothes on, as they started the night.;)
Conclusion: When is the fifth blogger party?;)

SLBlogmeet June 16th

Yesterday evening there was another blogger gathering at Veyron's. This was also the first time that I could attend the meeting. I was anxious to see all my fellow bloggers, most of them for the first time. So I did pull on my best suit and tp'd me to the place.
It started as a party, went to the bridge of the "Enterprise", cause as you know, the theme was Sci-Fi, and ended as a party at the Holodeck. The music was great, everything was in fact, but I did miss the agenda !?. It was well written on the SL Bloggers Wiki, every point we needed to talk about, but at the end, nothing was discussed, as far as I know at least. So there is still a lot to talk about.....when is the next blogger gathering?;)
I hope that, despise all the efforts that has been done, and I know it is not easy to set a date and time that will suit everyone, at the next blogmeet, there will be a lot more colleagues at the gathering.
Check out all pictures at my flickr stream, and on SL Boggers Wiki.

What to do when you don't have Sci-Fi clothing?

The last few days were a little bit boring on Sl for me.(yes it can be boring too, especially when we are talking about shopping) ;)

As I will have no time this week, for having a nice outfit at the blogger gathering next Saturday, I had to look for clothes and stuff real soon. It became even a bit stressed, as we had again the usual lag situations in Second Life. At the time I logged in for the first time , back in January, there were about 25.000 avatars on line every evening. Now a days, you will find more than 40.000 on line. No wonder we have some lag issues at some sims, not to mention the “pose ball issue” that I have experienced so far.;)

The first day that I was looking for some Sci-Fi stuff, I ended at a Star Trek store. Outside there was a nice USS Enterprise, but beside from that I did not find anything that could help me.

Going through the search bar, was not a real help either, as most of the time it did not work.

Next stop was another store, where, according the information, you would be able to find some clothing and weapons. I do not remember the name of the place, but I did not find anything useful.
From there I moved on to a store, where I suddenly “overheard” two avatars in their conversation, talking about another one; they mentioned a name, that was quiet familiar to me, so I went towards them and simply asked if they were talking about a friend of mine, who I did not see for some time now, because of the different time zone we are living in. She lives in New Zealand.

Can you imagine what a coincidence it is, to meet people inworld at a certain location in Second Life, who knows a friend of yours, among 40.000 others?

They were indeed good friends of that person, so we had a little chat, and there went the time that I was suppose to spend on finding Science Fiction stuff.

Okay, so I had to find the stuff another day….I thought.

But as usual, as soon as we were on the grid, all the notes came in, that we had to read, and delete, or accept. And then the IM’s from friends, the tp’s, and of course the daily SL problems. (beware of tomorrow’s release!)

Fortunately I stopped that day in the Belgium sim, where I met Pieter again. He was so kind to help me on the issue. And while trying things out, we had in fact a lot of fun.

So finally, I found something to wear, but have to admit, the next time, I take a girlfriend with me shopping, they buy a lot easier.

The next days, will be very quiet on this blog, as I am abroad for a couple of days, and will not have enough time to post pictures or stories.

But after Saturday, you can be sure of it, you will find a full report with pictures on the blogger gathering.
